Free placement preparation resources in India (2026)

Last updated · By LogicWiz Team

Short answer: You can prepare for campus placements in India without paying for a course. For aptitude, use free question banks and company-pattern mock tests; for coding, LeetCode's free problems, HackerRank and CodeChef; for computer science subjects, NPTEL (free to learn, with an optional paid exam for a certificate); and for soft skills, TCS iON Career Edge and Infosys Springboard. Practise interviews out loud with a friend or a free AI mock interviewer, and read the official notification for every drive you apply to.

There is more free placement material than anyone can use, so the hard part is choosing. This list groups resources by what you need to prepare, says what each one is good for and what "free" covers, and includes LogicWiz's own free tools alongside the others. We read the pages linked below on 20 October 2026; terms change, so check each site before you rely on it. LogicWiz is not affiliated with any other organisation named here.

Official sources first

Before any prep site, read what the company says itself. Prep sites disagree on patterns, and the official notification for your drive overrides all of them.

  • TCS iON National Qualifier Test page. TCS's own description of the NQT: no negative marking, held in-centre at TCS iON authorised centres, in English, and a score valid for two years from the result date.
  • Company careers pages and your registration email. Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant and others send test instructions by email. Save them and read them twice.
  • Your college placement cell. It knows which companies visit, their eligibility cut-offs and what past students were asked. Ask for previous years' experiences.

Aptitude, reasoning and verbal practice

  • LogicWiz Exams practice. Quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal ability and technical questions with worked explanations, free and unlimited on every plan, plus a Daily 10 challenge and a free study plan. Good for: practising one topic at a time and seeing the method for each answer.
  • IndiaBIX. A long-running free site of aptitude, reasoning and verbal questions with answers, grouped by topic. Good for: large volumes of practice on a single topic.
  • Free practice sections on prep sites such as PrepInsta and FACE Prep. Their articles on each company's reported pattern are free to read and are useful for comparing what different sources say, though they sometimes disagree with each other.

For the order to learn aptitude topics and the formulas for each, see aptitude preparation for placements.

Company-pattern mock tests

  • LogicWiz Exams mock tests. Full-length mocks modelled on the reported TCS NQT, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini, HCLTech and Tech Mahindra patterns, with sectional timers, solutions and a percentile. The free Spark plan includes 1 full mock test a day, and you can start one without an account. The questions are original, not real company papers.
  • Your college's own mock drives, if it runs them. These are often closest to the real conditions because they are timed and supervised.

Coding and data structures

  • LeetCode. A large set of coding problems, most of them free, with a paid Premium tier for company tags and extra problems. Good for: data structures and algorithms practice for product companies and higher roles such as TCS Digital or Prime.
  • HackerRank. Free practice tracks for languages, SQL and problem solving, and many companies use it for their own coding tests, so it is worth getting used to its editor.
  • CodeChef. Free contests and practice problems, with an Indian student community. Good for: timed problem solving.
  • GeeksforGeeks. Free articles on data structures, algorithms and CS subjects, and a large collection of interview experiences written by students. Good for: reading about a topic and what a specific company asked.
  • LogicWiz DSA problems. Free problems with visual explanations, an in-browser editor that judges your code, and AI hints when you are stuck. Good for: learning a pattern (two pointers, sliding window, trees) before practising it.

Free ways to learn and practise DSA compared goes into more detail, and free coding quizzes and contests for college students covers contests.

Computer science subjects and courses

  • NPTEL. Courses from the IITs and IISc on programming, data structures, DBMS, operating systems, networks and much more. NPTEL says its courses are free to enrol in and learn from; a certificate needs an optional proctored exam, which has a fee. Good for: a structured semester-style course on a subject you are weak in.
  • CS50x from Harvard. An introduction to computer science and programming, published as OpenCourseWare. Harvard says learners who score at least 70% on each problem set and the final project are eligible for a free CS50 certificate. Good for: building programming fundamentals from scratch.
  • freeCodeCamp. Free courses and long video tutorials on programming, web development and Python. Good for: learning a language or framework at your own pace.
  • LogicWiz courses. Free Generative AI, System Design and Low-Level Design courses with in-browser labs. Every lesson is free on every plan. Good for: product-company interviews and the AI questions now appearing in technical rounds.

Soft skills and job readiness

  • TCS iON Career Edge: Young Professional. A free, self-paced 15-day course on communication, collaboration, business etiquette, and financial and digital literacy, with a certificate after you pass the end-of-course assessment, according to its page.
  • Infosys Springboard. Infosys's free learning platform, with courses from Infosys and partners across technology and professional skills, and certificates on completion. Good for: brushing up a technology before an interview, especially if you are applying to Infosys.

Interview practice

  • A friend or classmate. Free and still one of the best options. Swap roles, and ask each other "why?" after every answer.
  • LogicWiz Interviews. AI mock interviews with Aria, typed or spoken, with follow-up questions and a scored report. The free Spark plan includes 1 typed and 1 spoken interview a week with no card, and practice is never shared with employers.
  • Other AI mock interview tools. Several have free tiers, though "free" ranges from free forever to a single trial. Free AI mock interview platforms compared sets out what each one offers.

Guides for the interview itself: how to practise for a job interview on your own and HR interview questions for freshers. For your resume, how to pass an ATS is a checklist.

How to combine them without wasting time

Pick one resource per need, not five. A workable free stack for a service-company placement season:

  1. The company's official page and your drive email, for the pattern.
  2. One aptitude question bank, used topic by topic, then company-pattern mocks in the last two weeks.
  3. One coding site, if your target role has coding.
  4. One structured course for your weakest CS subject.
  5. Out-loud interview practice from the week your first test result comes in.

Frequently asked questions

Can I prepare for placements for free?

Yes. Free question banks, company-pattern mock tests, coding sites, NPTEL courses and free interview practice cover everything a typical campus placement test and interview asks. Paid courses mainly add structure and more mock tests; they are not required.

Which is the best free website for aptitude preparation?

There is no single best one. Use a site with worked explanations for learning each topic, such as LogicWiz Exams or IndiaBIX, and timed company-pattern mocks for the last two weeks. Stick with one question bank rather than switching between several.

Are NPTEL courses free?

NPTEL says its courses are free to enrol in and learn from. The certificate is optional and needs a proctored exam, which has a fee.

Is TCS iON Career Edge free?

TCS iON's page describes Career Edge: Young Professional as a free, self-paced 15-day course with a certificate after passing the end-of-course assessment, as of October 2026.

Where can I get free placement mock tests?

LogicWiz Exams has free company-pattern mock tests for TCS NQT, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini and others, with 1 full mock a day on the free Spark plan. Many colleges also run free mock drives through the placement cell.

Do free certificates help in placements?

They help most when they match the job and you can talk about what you learned. An interviewer is more interested in a project you built during a course than in the certificate itself.
