Infosys placement preparation: aptitude, pseudocode and interview

Last updated · By LogicWiz Team

Short answer: Infosys fresher hiring is reported as an online test, then a technical interview and an HR interview. Prep sites agree the test has logical reasoning, mathematical ability, verbal ability and pseudocode sections each on its own timer, so practise those four sections under sectional timers and prepare your final-year project and one programming language for the interview.

Infosys does not publish one test pattern for every drive, and we could not find a section-by-section pattern on Infosys's own careers pages. What follows is what prep sites report, as reported, Oct 2026 (all read on 20 October 2026). The email and instructions for your own drive are what count. LogicWiz is not affiliated with Infosys.

The hiring process, as reported

PrepInsta (page dated 28 January 2026) and FACE Prep (May 2026) describe the same three steps for freshers:

  1. An online test.
  2. A technical interview, online or at an Infosys office.
  3. An HR interview.

FACE Prep describes three fresher tracks: System Engineer (SE), Specialist Programmer (SP) and Power Programmer (PP). It says SP and PP candidates also face coding questions, and that PP is reached mainly through HackWithInfy, Infosys's coding contest, rather than standard off-campus drives. Check which role your drive is for before you plan, because it decides whether coding is in your test.

Sources: FACE Prep, PrepInsta, PlacementPreparation.io.

Where they agree: the four core sections and their timings are the same on all three sites. Each section runs on its own clock.

Where they differ: whether there is a puzzle section and a writing task, and the total time. PrepInsta also says the test is adaptive, which we could not confirm elsewhere. PlacementPreparation.io says there is no negative marking; the other two pages do not state it either way. Prepare for all of the sections in the table, then check your drive's instructions.

Eligibility: PrepInsta lists 65% (or 6.5 CGPA) in Class X, Class XII and graduation with no active backlog for the 2026 batch, and other sites give different cut-offs. Your drive's notification is the only reliable source.

How to prepare for each section

Mathematical ability

Ten questions in 35 minutes is three and a half minutes each, which tells you the questions are multi-step. PlacementPreparation.io rates the section moderate to high difficulty. Practise:

Work in sets of 10 with a 35-minute timer. If a question has taken you four minutes and you are not close, mark your best guess and move on.

Logical reasoning

Fifteen questions in 25 minutes, often in sets that share one set of clues. Focus on seating arrangement, puzzles, data sufficiency, syllogisms and blood relations. Draw the arrangement once, carefully, and answer every question in the set from that drawing.

Verbal ability

Twenty questions in 20 minutes is a minute each, so reading speed matters. Practise reading comprehension, sentence improvement, error spotting and para jumbles under a timer.

Pseudocode

Five questions in 10 minutes, each showing a short piece of language-neutral code and asking what it prints or returns. You do not write code; you trace it. To prepare:

  1. Learn to trace on paper: write each variable as a column and update it line by line.
  2. Practise loops (especially nested loops and loops that change their own counter), recursion, integer division and the modulo operator, and bitwise operators (AND, OR, XOR, shifts).
  3. Watch for off-by-one traps: does the loop run while i < n or i <= n?

The pseudocode practice set on LogicWiz Exams has worked answers that show the trace, and C programming output questions build the same skill.

Writing and puzzles

If your drive has a writing task, practise a short essay in a fixed time: a one-line position, two or three paragraphs with one example each, and a one-line conclusion. Check grammar more than vocabulary. For numerical puzzles (missing numbers, grids), number series practice helps.

Take a timed Infosys-style mock

The free Infosys-style online test on LogicWiz Exams follows the four core sections above with sectional timers: 15 reasoning questions in 25 minutes, 10 mathematical ability in 35, 20 verbal in 20 and 5 pseudocode in 10. It does not include the puzzle game or the writing task. You can start without an account, and the free Spark plan includes 1 full mock test a day. The Infosys preparation page lists solved questions from the same topics. The questions are written by LogicWiz and are not real Infosys questions.

The technical interview

For a fresher, the technical interview is mostly about your own work and the basics of computer science. Prepare:

  • Your final-year project. Explain the problem, what you built, your part in it, one technical decision and why, and what you would change. Expect "why did you use X instead of Y?"
  • One programming language, properly. Data types, loops, functions, arrays and strings, and for Java or C++, the basics of classes.
  • Object-oriented programming. Encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism and abstraction, each with one example. Practise with the OOP questions.
  • DBMS and SQL. Keys, normalisation, joins and a simple query. See DBMS and SQL.
  • A short coding question. Reversing a string, checking a palindrome, finding the largest element. Write it while talking through your thinking.

If you are being considered for SP, expect data structures and algorithms questions too. The free DSA problems on LogicWiz are a good place to practise.

The HR interview

FACE Prep says the HR round covers communication, situational questions and readiness to relocate. Prepare honest answers to "tell me about yourself", "why Infosys", "are you willing to relocate or work in shifts" and "where do you see yourself in five years". The HR interview questions for freshers guide has sample answers. To rehearse aloud with follow-up questions, the free Spark plan on LogicWiz Interviews gives you 1 typed and 1 spoken AI mock interview a week.

A 3-week plan if your test is close

  • Week 1: one core section a day in rotation (mathematical ability, reasoning, verbal, pseudocode), 90 minutes each, untimed at first so you learn the methods.
  • Week 2: sectional sets under the real timers every day, plus one full Infosys-style mock at the end of the week. Start writing your project explanation.
  • Week 3: a full mock every other day, a review of every mistake on the days between, and two practice interviews (technical and HR), out loud.

Infosys also runs Infosys Springboard, a free learning platform with courses and certificates, which is useful for brushing up a programming language before the technical round.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Infosys online test pattern in 2026?

Prep sites agree on four timed sections: logical reasoning (15 questions, 25 minutes), mathematical ability (10 questions, 35 minutes), verbal ability (20 questions, 20 minutes) and pseudocode (5 questions, 10 minutes), as reported, Oct 2026. Some also list a puzzle section and a writing task, and SP candidates are reported to get coding questions. Infosys does not publish one pattern, so check your drive's instructions.

Is there negative marking in the Infosys test?

PlacementPreparation.io says there is no negative marking. The other pages we read do not state it. Check the instructions on the day.

How do I prepare for Infosys pseudocode questions?

Trace code on paper, one variable per column, updating line by line. Practise nested loops, recursion, modulo and integer division and bitwise operators, and look out for off-by-one loop limits. You read code in this section; you do not write it.

What is asked in the Infosys technical interview for freshers?

Expect questions on your final-year project, one programming language, object-oriented programming, DBMS and SQL, and a short coding question. SP candidates should also expect data structures and algorithms.

What is the difference between Infosys SE and SP?

FACE Prep describes System Engineer (SE) as the standard fresher role with pseudocode in the test, and Specialist Programmer (SP) as a higher role whose test adds coding problems. It says Power Programmer (PP) is reached mainly through HackWithInfy.

Is the Infosys mock test on LogicWiz free?

Yes. You can start it without an account, and the free Spark plan includes 1 full mock test a day, with solutions and a percentile. It covers the four core sections, not the puzzle or writing tasks.
